Join me for a WordPress Q&A
Posted Thursday, December 4th, 2008 7:35 am by Dave Moyer

Yeah, I know I’m a bit late. But I wanted to let you all know that I’m going to be doing a special WordPress discussion tonight (Dec. 4) at 9pm Eastern time to who knows when, hosted by Dave Jackson of the School of Podcasting (a site which I had no idea about, but is apparently pretty big!)
Dave dubbed me the “Prince of Plugins”, which is a pretty cool title, I have to say. But I do wonder what I did to earn that! Maybe the other one died and I was like the whiny and pathetic nephew who just happened to be the heir to the throne. (You know, the one in the movies that drives the servants crazy until he falls in love with a girl and everything turns around and the music swells and…)
Anyway, I’d love for you to pop in. Apparently because the SOP is a subscription service, we have to charge for this event, but it’ll be a great time. I’d love to see you there! Tickets are $13.99, and there are four left at the time of this writing.
[insert witty comment this post message here- I'm lazy today.]

WordPress 2.7 rolling towards release
Posted Monday, September 29th, 2008 5:33 pm by Dave Moyer
Blogs are on the rise. There are over twenty-two million bloggers in the world, and over ninety-four million internet users (a whopping 50% of people online) are regular blog readers, according to eMarketer statistics from 2007, according to the State of the Blogosphere for 2008. One of the most common services available to power all of these blogs is called WordPress, an open source blogging platform that allows users to setup their very own blog on their own server. WordPress is made by Automattic, a small startup formed after the creation of the platform by original developer Matt Mullenweg. It is easy to see that WordPress is popular! It was downloaded more than 1.55 million times in 2007 alone, and their free, hosted blog service offering users a quick and easy blog at name.wordpress.com hosts over four million blogs to date. My blog runs on WordPress! It’s a great system, and I wouldn’t use anything else. I even host a podcast devoted to WordPress topics, WordCast. Read more >>
