Adventures in a Shopping Mall

I was in Missoula, MT in the end of March visiting some friends and having some fun. This included a little trip to the mall, which is always probably far more fun for me than it should be…

Major thanks to Marielle for being awesome and super hilarious, and major thanks to YOU GUYS for putting up with my total lack of… well, anything at all, lately. I’ve been ridiculously busy, but some new stuff is coming out soon.

I’ve got a sketch video that I’ll be posting probably on Friday, and hopefully early next week I’ll be posting a new music video spoof. (Speaking of which, note to self: film that new music video spoof.)

PS. If you haven’t subscribed to me on YouTube yet, there’s nothing more important for you to do in your life. It is your destiny… fulfill it now.

Why I'm Not Emo

I’ve been answering a ton of FormSpring questions lately – it’s been a great way to answer all of the awesome questions you guys have in one place! Recently, someone asked if I’ve “ever been emo”.

Now, if you’ve ever watched any of my videos, heard any of my shows or even have just looked at the design of this site, it’s obvious that I’m pretty much the opposite of emo. But just to prove it to you, check out this video.

Britney Spears "Gimme More" Spoof "404" and How to Make a $3 Greenscreen

Ever been browsing the web and come across one of those annoying “404 – Page Not Found” errors? Then this video is for you. I know the vocals in this song aren’t the best, it’s just for fun. (I usually sing much better! Really! I’m just… not… Britney Spears.)

This video was actually filmed with a green screen made out of four sheets of green poster board that cost me just under $3 at my local grocery store. I taped them together with packing tape and hung them to the wall via push pin. Watch my behind the scenes video:

PS. If you aren’t subscribed to my channel on YouTube yet, you really should be! You can get all my fun videos right when they come out. Plus, I’ll love you forever, and who doesn’t want that, right?

The Question Finally Answered: What Music Do I Listen To?

I get asked WAY too often what kind of music I listen to. And honestly, there’s really no particular genre or artist that I listen to more than others (though I do definitely have favorites, at the moment Lady Gaga, Ke$ha and MIKA). To prove that, though, here’s a little video.

For those of you who have asked how I got the sound direct from the iPod into the video, I connected it to the computer’s mic input with an aux cable. Then I recorded the audio in Audacity with software playthrough turned on so I could hear the music through the computer speakers, and later synced up what my Snowflake mic (which records audio for the video) heard with the Audacity recording. Pretty complex, but it worked!

PS. THE GUY IN THE GLASSES NEEDS A NAME! I’m fairly sure he’ll be making appearances in later videos, so he deserves a proper title! What do you think?

There is NOTHING Charming About These Bracelets!!!

You know those little metal charm bracelets with all the little decorated square thingies that all supposedly say something about you? Yeah. I HATE THEM. There is nothing charming about these bracelets, because they’re ridiculously hard to put together.

But put a million together we did (actually 89 to be exact) to prepare for a daddy-daughter ball. Fingers were pinched, but we made our TREAT SACKS. (Yeah, they’re called treat sacks!)

Bend and Snap Contest

Confession that will probably surprise very few of you: I am a musical theatre geek! Yep, it’s true. Broadway’s all over the iPod, I sing, I dance…. yeah. As a result, many of my friends are theatre crazies too, and this results in odd contests like the one in this video!

The City At Night… AGAIN!

Being a resident of the oh-so-elite Denver, Colorado area, I often find myself running around downtown for various reasons. This week I was down meeting some fun people for some new projects I’m working on (don’t you worry, you’ll hear about everything soon) and got to pop in on a few events with a conference that involves students in Historic preservation!

In the process, I also managed to get in one more tour of the city at night. It’s quite a scary place at… 8:37 PM. Thanks to Emily and Kyle for being awesome with me!!!

If you haven’t seen my first City at Night video, watch it here! :)

I HAVE ELEPHANTS!!!

I’ve been feeding my app addiction lately and came across the most AWESOME APP EVER!!! It’s called Elephant Odyssey and the premise is simple: take care of these awesome wandering elephants. All proceeds benefit the San Diego Zoo, and for 99 cents, that’s a bargain!

"Mom, that's not Jack."

It’s funny how many people have asked me if this is a true story. Yeah, in fact, all of it is true. I just left out the little detail that apparently Jack was the blond lady’s nephew. But other than that, yeah. All true. Scared me, too. And I had seemingly permanent lipstick on my face for about an hour.

Free Slurpee Day!

It’s 7/11… aka FREE Slurpee day at 711! I went down to my local store to celebrate… (This video was retweeted by a bunch of 7-11 stores. That made me laugh.)

Tang Concubines

Not my favorite video ever, but here you go. This video is like 6 months old… sorry it’s so late! Christina and I saw an…interesting show.

We didn’t get footage of it, but there were little red screens in the corners of the stage explaining what the heck was happening onstage, in both English AND Chinese! They also had cool drummers.

Also not in this video was the footage of me finding a door outside the balcony entrance with tape over the latch so it wouldn’t lock. This door apparently belongs to the light or sound booth or something, and the staff wasn’t amused much when I poked my head in. I was a bit shocked to find someone in what I thought was something similar to a closet, and so I did what any unexpected light and/or soundbooth visitor would do – look around dramatically, yell “CLEAR!”, and close the door. We then proceeded to run to our seats. The show must go on.
