Interview on Living Digitally

Jackson at LivingDigitally.TV grabbed me for a bit at WordCamp Dallas to chat about Bitwire, WordCamps, Twitter (of course), and the like. Though the camerawork isn’t ideal (I’m cut off the side for most of the time), it was a fun time.

[Finally] New studio tour

After the Holiday Marathon was (finally) over, I took a minute to film that new studio tour you all have been clamoring for. Now stop it and put those clams back where you found them. (Oh yeah. And Merry Christmas, Happy Haunnukah, Kwanzaa, Festivus, and/or whatever holiday you’ll be celebrating this December.)

This is what the internet is all about (updated)

http://thegeoffsmith.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/geoff-smith.jpg

Every once in a while, I stumble upon something that really gives me that all-over fuzzy feeling of “Yeah. This is just it! THIS is what the internet is about.”

That’s exactly the feeling that I got tonight when Twitter went abuzz about Geoff Smith‘s UStream concert, exactly a year since the first. Thanks to Cali Lewis, TheMacMommy and many others for pointing me to Geoff’s Ustream page, which is still open and active as ever as I write this blog post.

Geoff Smith, a rather popular internet musician for his many podcast jingles (notable shows include TWiT, GeekBrief TV and The Daily Source Code), makes a regular event of broadcasting a ridiculously informal “concert” from the comfort of his home. He’s got a guitar, piano, and a bottle of beer (along with the shades) at his side as he takes requests from the chat room, creating an on-the-fly montage of original songs and popular hits.

What makes this so cool is that it’s not a big stage! There aren’t any huge lights. No fog machines, strobes or huge amps to drown out the screaming crowds. Geoff is literally sitting in his living room, entertaining his audience of 200+ online viewers more than any club entertainer ever could. Over the time I’ve been watching, Smith has had a short chat with his wife about dinner before returning to the piano, and has even walked over to the front door to put out his cat, stopping to explain why the cat door is blocked (they have a Chihuahua that gets out).

I’ve enjoyed myself tonight watching this little concert, and now that I’m done with this post I’m off to watch some more. Check out Geoff’s Ustream page here, and why not his Twitter and “company“.

Here’s an update for ya:

As I write this, Geoff is in the midst of yet another live concert, this time an broadcasting live from a bar in his home state of Tennessee. Over 700 people have joined the live Ustream feed, enhanced this time by Cali and Neal’s skillful Tricaster work. The second annual Ones-and-Os Christmas party is going extremely well, and I’ll be watching all night.

My first attempts at After Effects

Kym Huynh recently YouTubed a promo video for Bitwire’s many podcasts that I made in Adobe After effects. Check it out, if you must. I’m getting better!

Talking Cat!

I’ve been posting a lot of videos lately! I guess I just keep finding them. I’ve been getting into the iTunes TV shows recently, and got an episode of America’s Funniest Home Videos. This clip happened to be on there.

Oh, Long Johnson.

Me as a Mii

Thanks to Laura and her brother for making ME a MII! However, my mouth is NOT that big, and I’m WAY taller than they said I was. Enjoy.

Birthday Juggler

Happy birthday to me… a family friend sent me this video as a little birthday gift. Absolutely amazing. This was added to my del.icio.us seconds after I finished watching it.

Happy MLK day!
